The WV Energy Initiative online course is designed to familiarize educators with the concepts, skills, and knowledge needed for students to obtain careers in the energy sector. The course targets middle and high school educators and school counselors interested in learning more about the careers, concepts, and applications in the energy industry, as well as the skills students need in order to become successful in the energy sector. The course will also provide teachers with 21^st Century tools and resources essential to promoting career awareness among students.

The WV Energy Initiative program is grant funded through the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. To be eligible you must:

• Be employed in a West Virginia public school serving students from grades 6 through 12 
• Have a desire to increase career awareness among students 
• Have knowledge of energy related careers 
• Know how to design lesson plans
• Be willing to incorporate social networking into your classroom instruction
